To start, there's luke warm water the first day and then no hot water from Saturday morning until late Monday afternoon. Huge weekend in Pittsburgh with Pittsburgh Panther home game and first Steeler home game. If I hadn't prepaid, I would have left after the second night. I hope other people that stayed at this location this past weekend take the time to post on here as well! Once again - Two thumbs down and a rating of "F" for this location. To think they charged people anything to stay here knowing the problems they have, and making poor decisions about housekeeping etc. It is hard to imagine that the people running this establishment could function as though nothing was wrong for the length of time they have been. Luckily our stay was for only 3 days and 2 nights however we had other family members who stayed an extra few days where the alarms went off on a nightly basis. The refrigerator was very noisy and couldn't be kept quiet for any length of time. I chalk this up to all the false alarms they have had. Interestingly enough, the first responders (fire trucks, police, etc.) seemed to be lethargic regarding the warning of people and to ensure people were out of their rooms. The rumor was, is that it was caused by the elevators. Another person said it was almost every other night at minimum and that she had been there for almost a month. One person stated that it was the 4th time in a week that this had happened. Several people who had been there for a long period of time mentioned that this was a re-occurring event. A fire alarm went off at 3 in the morning but there was no one who checked to see if people were out of the rooms and no one called or notified anyone to say it was a false alarm. We found trash from a previous occupant visible on the floor at the headboard that was very obvious, and the shower wasn't clean. The third room was where we were able to experience the rest of our stay which led to these comments. The second room was mistakenly given to us as it was promised (supposedly) to someone else. Very ignorant! The first room was nauseating and smell intolerable. It makes no sense that rooms needed to be cleaned on a day/evening in which rooms were heavily occupied. You couldn't walk on them without getting soaked. We had to change rooms 3 times for various reasons on the day of check-in, and on Sunday the hotel decided to clean the carpets which were soaking wet the rest of our stay. After a 2 night stay, there still was no Hot water and we later found out that it wasn't until the third afternoon hot water was restored. Although this occurred the previous day, they didn't notify their clients. Upon arriving there was no hot water which they failed to mention upon check-in. I'm not sure what has happened since our last stay BUT. We have always looked forward to staying here when the need arises. We have always enjoyed our stay and had no issues what-so-ever. This was our 6th time staying at Home 2 Suites at the McCandless location.
